Living in Los Angeles has been an adventure, from start to where we are now. It's not quite the end of the journey yet, but it is close to the end of another school year. This post is a look back on things that I see on a normal basis, and what they mean to me.
From a photographer's perspective, these trees, flowers, and bushes are what speaks out to me. Royce Hall is indeed pretty, and the construction work on the front side of my apartment sure isn't, but for me, it's all about the details. I love and appreciate the way light interacts with nature, and how it can change an image.
The rooftop of the apartment building provides an excellent place to breathe, think, meditate, and reflect. I owe most of my sanity to this place. It helps that there's pretty flowers to look at and an amazing view from here.
Home is not so much about where you sleep at night, or what color your walls are. It's about what speaks out to you. What are some sights you see every day on your commute? Have you ever wanted to pause and just take it all in? Or capture it so you can look back on it?
Los Angeles, you are a pretty sight. But more than that, you have become my second home. My home away from home. I have yet to see and do everything on my bucket list, but what I have done and seen will always stay with me.
Life is hectic. Life in LA is fast-paced. The city never sleeps. But I have found that if you take the time to look around, you can breathe new meaning into things that seem mundane. So here's to appreciating the little and big things in life.
